Manitoba School for the Deaf (MSD) news!

HOMESTAY OPPORTUNITIES

Manitoba School for the Deaf is looking for enthusiastic, outgoing families who will welcome a Deaf student into their home for the 2014/2015 school year.
Homestay is rewarding for both the family and the students who participate.
We would welcome you to talk with us if you:
·       Can communicate in ASL
·       Have a private bedroom for the student
·       Will include the student in your day to day family life
·       Be willing to take the student on outings

HOST FAMILIES WILL BE COMPENSATED $600.00/month (for 10 months).
The compensation is NON TAXABLE.

Homestay families must provide a safe and supportive environment for our Deaf student. All families will be screened and visited before a decision can be made to have a student in the home.

All family members 18 years of age and over must undergo a Winnipeg Police Service “Personal Request for Criminal Record Search” and a Province of Manitoba “Child Abuse Registry Access Application” to ensure safety of the student.

Students are placed in the home during the school year. Students typically go home on weekends, and all school holiday breaks.
