Presentation on Text 911- March 27th!

Manitoba Deaf Association
Hosts
Presentation on Text-911
Speaker:   The police officer will give a speech about T-911.

Purpose for Townhall Meeting:    T9-1-1 (Text with 9-1-1) provides 9-1-1 call centres the ability to communicate with a Deaf, hard of hearing, or speech impaired person during an emergency using wireless text messaging.
The customers have to register at the wireless providers with T9-1-1 that should only be used for emergency situations that require a response from police, fire or emergency medical services.

When a registered user requires 9-1-1 services, they dial 9-1-1 on their cell phone. There is no need for them to speak, as the 9-1-1 call taker will be notified that the caller needs to communicate via text messaging. The 9-1-1 call taker then initiates text messaging with the caller to address emergency.
