January 2014

Sunday 5th    No Service
                   “Epiphany”
                   Matthew 2: 1-12
As brightly as the story’s star, the Epiphany opens up the stellar power
of God’s coming to humanity. We seek the rewards of leaving the
comfort zone of one’s faith and of interfaith cooperation.

Sunday 12th 9:30 a.m. Annual WCD Retreat & Lunch held at

“Turning Points”
                   Matthew 3: 13-17
The baptism of Jesus presents an occasion for exploring our ideas about flesh & spirit, our misconceptions about repentance, our inner and outer journeys of faith and the various “Hinge events” of our lives.

                   Isaiah 49: 1-7
We are bombarded with testimony everywhere. We struggle to know
what sources of information are reliable.

          “Call: A Challenge and a Gift”
                   Matthew 4: 12-23
Life presents us with many choices. We are uncertain about the right answer, or we regret having to give up options by picking one decision path. God presents us with a gift, offering a clarifying light on our path


February 2013

The next 4 weeks we will focus on a collection of Jesus’ sayings known as the Sermon on the Mount.

“Let your Light Shine”
                   Matthew 5: 13-20
Jesus tells those listening on the Mount are told they are like the salt of the earth.  We learn what it means to “practice righteousness” and to restore beauty in community.

Sunday 17th   No Service
“Heart of the Matter”
                   Matthew 5: 21-37
Six weeks into the new year and our resolutions are beginning to feel more like routines than resolutions. The scripture today turn us inward again. They ask us to look deep into our hearts and to investigate what is really true to us.

Sunday 23rd  Worship Service-10:30 am.

                   “Love Disarms”
                   Matthew 5: 38 – 48
This week’s scripture passages keep our vision on the Holy One. Jesus points to the source of our perfection. Paul reassures us of the foundation that Christ truly is. God reminds Moses that the ability to be holy is a gift to God’s people, as free as God’s love.




Camp Kakepitay Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, January 26th, 2014 beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the Fiola Room at Deaf Centre Manitoba. Be sure to mark this on your calendar. There will be quite a few things to discuss and make some decisions regarding the next two years in preparation for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Camp Kakepitay for 2016.  Everyone is invited to come out to the meeting.

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 is the Annual Ukrainian Fundraising Supper at DCM beginning at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. Proceeds from the supper will go towards the Deaf Camp.
Tickets available from DCM front desk and any Camp Kakepitay Board member.
