Position Title: Director of Development
Reporting To: Executive Director and President
Salary: Negotiable
Position Status: Full time contract, minimum of one
year.
Start Date: Immediately
Position Summary:
The Director of Development is responsible for identifying
and developing social enterprises and new sources of revenue for the
association, and for growing the existing sources of revenue.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Generation and Management
.
Identify
potential social enterprise businesses and research their feasibility.
.
Develop and implement long-term and short-term strategic plans and
business models for social enterprises.
.
Develop sponsorship strategies, packages, and targets.
.
Develop and implement annual fundraising and marketing strategies.
.
Manage other revenue generating partnerships and programs as directed by
the Executive Director.
Community Relations
.
Support the implementation of appropriate partnerships as directed by
the Executive Director.
.
Support the development of positive working relationships with community
stakeholders, cultural, business, and other relevant partners to advance the
mission and fundraising goals of the organization.
General
.
Support the implementation of the organization's long and short term
strategic goals and directions.
.
Foster an understanding of philanthropy within the organization.
.
Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization
to its donors and maximize public awareness of the fundraising activities of
the organization
.
Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and
communication materials for development efforts.
Key Qualifications:
.
Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and social
enterprise.
.
Experience working with all forms of revenue generation in a
not-for-profit context, including corporate sponsorships, government,
foundation and grants, etc.
.
Experience negotiating successful sponsorship packages and agreements.
.
Post-secondary degree.
.
CFRE certification is an asset.
.
Experience with capital campaigns programs an asset.
.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
.
Ability to communicate in both official languages (English and French)
is an asset.
.
Knowledge and/or willingness to learn about Deaf culture and our
official sign languages (American Sign Language (ASL) and Langue des Signes
Québécoise (LSQ)) and
our community.
.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc), fundraising database
and familiarity with Google products considered an asset.
Location: CAD head office in Ottawa, ON.
