Michael Stephensen Runs a Race for
CancerCare
After Michael and his wife Alison both beat cancer
and received the benefits of CancerCare Manitoba's work during their treatment,
they believe the best way to show their gratitude is to give back. On the August Long Weekend - August 3-5, 2013 - Michael will give it all he's got and compete in The Canadian Death Race in Grande Cache, Alberta and at the same time raise money for CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
As a runner Michael sees the challenges he faces in this race in some ways similar to the grueling challenge cancer patients face on a daily basis.
The race is a 125 km mountain trail ultra-marathon with multiple creek crossings, a 24 hour time limit and 17,000 feet of elevation change run in Grande Cache, Alberta.
