Job Opportunity: Project Coordinator
28 Month Contract
The Canadian Association of the Deaf has received federal funding support for a 28-month
project that requires a highly skilled and very energetic Project Coordinator.
Starting date: 10 June 2013
End date: 9 October 2015
Responsibilities: This is a very demanding position that involves a broad range of
responsibilities. You will outreach to various health organizations, charities, and foundations;
solicit and negotiate their partnership in our project activities; seek funding and sponsorships to
underwrite expenses related to the partnerships; create “Simple Language” versions of healthrelated information; produce ASL-LSQ video versions of the information; produce text versions
to accompany the Signed videos; disseminate and promote these products; and manage website
and social media promotional activities.
Requirements: Proven expertise in creating easy-to-understand text and Signed video
versions of complex information such as government publications (writing, directing,
performing, post-production) -- include samples in your application. Proven experience in
working in partnership with different kinds of charitable organizations, including both Deaf and
non-Deaf organizations. Highly skilled in social media and website management. Success in
soliciting sponsorships and fundraising from corporations, foundations, and businesses. Deep
understanding of Deaf culture and language. Commitment to the project for the full term of 28
months.
Languages: Complete fluency in at least two of the following is required: ASL, LSQ, written
English, written French.
Location: Preferably but not necessarily Ottawa.
